What is Kilishi?
Kilishi is a dried, spiced beef snack from northern Nigeria. Beef is sliced thin, marinated in a groundnut and spice blend, then dried and roasted over fire. It has been made this way for generations.
What makes MOBKILISHI different?
We make it the traditional way and pack it properly. Our Kilishi is produced in Katsina, where the beef comes from, and sealed in a 60g resealable pack with an oxygen absorber so it reaches you the way it left us.
Does it contain nuts?
Yes. MOBKILISHI contains peanuts. Groundnut paste is one of the main ingredients and it is what gives Kilishi its flavour and texture. It is not an optional extra and it cannot be left out.
If you have a peanut allergy, do not eat this product.
Is it Halal?
Yes.
What is in it?
Beef, groundnut paste, tigernut, dates, chilli pepper, onion, ginger, cloves, black pepper, African nutmeg, jaya and beef seasoning. No artificial preservatives. The full ingredient list is printed on every pack.
How long does it keep?
Twelve months from production, unopened. The production and best before dates are printed on the back of every pack.
What is the sachet inside the pack?
An oxygen absorber. It keeps the Kilishi dry and fresh by removing oxygen from the sealed pack. It is not edible. Take it out before you eat, and keep it away from children.
How should I store it?
In a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight. No refrigeration needed while the pack is sealed. Once you open it, press the seal closed after each time and finish it within a few days for the best taste.
Is it a healthy snack?
It is high in protein and iron, with no artificial preservatives. Nutrition information is printed on every pack. It is a dried meat product, so it is also high in sodium. If you are watching your salt intake, check the pack.
Is it safe? Is it registered?
Yes. We are registered with NAFDAC, registration number LG-ETO-01-0925L. Every batch is checked for meat inspection, temperature, wrapping and sanitation. Independent laboratory testing confirms salmonella, shigella and E. coli are absent, and that lead, arsenic and cadmium are below detection limits.
Where can I buy it?
Directly from this website, or from stockists around Lagos. Order online and we deliver. If you want to know whether we are in a shop near you, message us and we will tell you.
How much does delivery cost?
Lagos delivery is a flat fee, shown at checkout. Delivery is included free on the 12 Pack and the Box of 25. Outside Lagos, shipping is calculated at checkout.
Do you ship outside Nigeria?
Yes. We ship to the United Kingdom and have sent Kilishi to customers across Europe. Message us before ordering from abroad and we will work out shipping with you.
Can I buy in bulk, or stock it in my shop?
Yes. We supply shops, distributors and corporate buyers from 30 packs upward at trade prices. Call or message us and we will send a price list.
Can I cook with it?
People add it to jollof, salads, sandwiches, pizza and suya spice blends. It works anywhere you want dried beef and heat. Send us what you make.
Do you have other flavours?
Not yet. We make one thing, Classic Beef, and we would rather make it well than make five of them badly. When that changes, the mob hears first.
